Purity

 

Philippians 4:8 (NIV) - Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

After a violent storm one night, a large tree, which over the years had become a stately giant, was found lying across the pathway in a park. Nothing but a splintered stump was left. Closer examination showed that it was rotten at the core because thousands of tiny insects had eaten away at its heart. The weakness of that tree was not brought on by the sudden storm; it began the very moment the first insect nested within its bark. With the Holy Spirit's help, let's be very careful to guard our purity. 

Our Daily Bread.

 

Purity often is thought of in a sexual reference.  However, that is only one part of it.  Purity of any type begins with our thought life.  That is why it is crucial to guard our hearts and minds.  Paul admonishes us to fill our hearts and minds with things that are true, noble, pure, right, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy.  He understood that what we think about effects who we become.  Basically, pure thoughts bring about pure actions. So, let us each take a look at what we dwell on.  For in the end, it will help determine who we become.
