Peace

Romans 14:16-19 - Therefore, do not let your good be slandered, for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. Whoever serves Christ in this way is acceptable to God and approved by men.  So then, we must pursue what promotes peace and what builds up one another.

Peace is such a precious jewel, that I would give anything for it but truth.

Matthew Henry.

We live in a world where most people live out of the mindset they can do what they want because it their right.  If I have the right to do something, others should not be offended by how I choose to live my life.  Yet, in this passage of Scripture, Paul says just the opposite.  He says that while there may be things that a person believes are okay for them to carry out in their lives, it is very wrong to do if it is a stumbling block to someone else.  Therefore, if that person knows that and still does it, they are wrong.  He instructs us to live in a way that promotes peace and builds each other up.  That cannot be done when we live selfishly for our own “rights.”  It is only done when we live in such a way that Christ and others are more important than doing what we have the “right to do.”  Let’s live in such a way that promotes the peace that God’s Word asks us to promote.  Have a Magnificent Monday!
